Job:

Location:
San Francisco, CA

Education:
Undergraduate: Bachelor of Science, Animal Science, California State University, San Luis Obispo
Graduate: Master of Science, Horticulture and Agronomy, University of California Davis

What I do in my job:
As a Life Scientist at the EPA I help to protect our environment by working on key resource conservation issues.  In particular, I work to minimize the waste stream and prevent waste from going to landfills.

Coolest Thing about my Job:
I feel like I am making a real difference in the world.  My work is contributing to making positive changes in our environment for future generations. The projects I work on are challenging and rewarding and I also get the opportunity to travel.  The friends that graduated with me often tell me they wish they were doing something that doesn’t just involve paper pushing.  They wish they had the passion for their jobs that I have for mine.

Why I chose Federal Service?
I chose federal service because I was interested in the Environmental Protection Agency’s mission to protect human health and the environment. I also believe in the need for public service.

Most Important Issue the Nation is Facing:
There exists today a great disconnect between the limits of our natural environment and the way we live our daily lives.  As a result, we see global warming, extreme waste and consumerism.

Interests:
Cooking, Bikram yoga, traveling, sustainable food systems, crafts, animals, baseball
